The Internet is a collection of infinite number of connected computers that are spread all across the world. It is the largest network and is sometimes called the network of networks as it encompasses almost all small, medium, and large networks.
In 1969 U.S.A developed “ARPANET” during the cold war to protect against nuclear attack. “ARPANET” was working on the base of Local Area Network. The ARPANET went live in early October, 1969. The first communications were between Leonard Klein rock’s research center at the University of California at Los Angeles, and Douglas Engel Bart’s center at the Stanford Research Institute. ARPA - Advance Research Project Agency. This project developed a new technology in 1984 to connect their computers with other agencies. This net of local computers involved into INTERNET.
Use Of Internet 👉
👉WWW: Refers to a collection of online hypertext documents that are stored on various servers across the world. These documents can be viewed by visiting Web sites. For this, you need to enter the address of the Web site in your Web browser.
👉Hyperlink: Refers to the text or graphic that allows you to establish a link or an electronic
connection between various sections of a Web page or different Web pages. You can navigate
between different Web pages or even Web sites through hyperlinks provided on a Web page.
👉Hypertext: Refers to a Web page containing a hyperlink.
👉Web browser: Refers to a software application that allows you to interact with the information on WWW. Some of the most commonly-used Web browsers are IE, Netscape Navigator, and Mozilla Firefox.
👉Internet Service Provider (ISP): Refers to the organization that provides access to the Internet to its customers.
